About this course
EPLAN Electric P8 is what serious panel builders, machine builders and automation integrators use — especially those working with European clients. This weekend course covers the P8 workflow: project structure to IEC standards, macro-based schematic design, device management, PLC I/O documentation, and the automated cross-references and reports that make EPLAN projects self-documenting. Your final project is the complete electrical documentation of an automation panel.

- P8 concepts: projects, pages, structure identifiers
- IEC standards and page types
- Master data: symbols, forms, frames
- Inserting symbols and devices; device selection from parts data
- Connections, potentials and wire numbering
- Macros: window, page and value sets
- Cross-references done the EPLAN way
- PLC boxes, I/O addressing and overviews
- Terminal strips and plug documentation
- Panel layout with the 2D mounting layout module
- Automated reports: BOMs, cable lists, terminal diagrams
- Revision management and PDF export
- Final project: automation panel documentation set
REQUIREMENTS
Before you join
- Electrical schematic literacy — you should read control circuits comfortably
- AutoCAD Electrical or panel-building experience is the ideal entry profile

Head of Electrical Training · B.Sc Electrical Engineering (UET), PEC-registered
Imran is a PEC-registered electrical engineer with 12 years across building services design and industrial projects, including power-system studies for textile and pharmaceutical plants. He built ArchTech's electrical software track and teaches AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN P8, ETAP and the Electrical Design Expert Program.

Different markets. AutoCAD Electrical dominates local design offices; EPLAN is the standard for export-oriented panel builders and anyone working with German/European machine builders. Knowing both makes you unusually hireable — the concepts overlap heavily.
For companies, yes — which is exactly why trained operators are scarce and paid accordingly. Our lab runs licensed EPLAN Education; we'll show you the free EPLAN Education for Students route for home practice.
Typically DAE/B-Sc electrical people already doing panel or automation work who need the documentation skill to move up, plus AutoCAD Electrical graduates broadening their toolset.
